Discover Arginale, a collective walk

October 29, 2023, 10:00 AM—11:30 AM

Bolzanism Museum Meets Ar/Ge Kunst

Arginale di Bolzano
Departure: Via Trento / No. 10 bus stop

The urban exploration of Bolzano’s Arginale is part of Margherita Moscardini’s And Remember that Holes Can Move, currently on show at Ar/Ge Kunst, which investigates the interstices in Bolzano’s mobility infrastructures. The spaces generated by the overlapping of roads, motorway and railways running along the banks of the River Isarco constitutes an ‘infra-space’ whose rules of use are unclear and variable: a temporary space for living, a transit space for cars, a forgotten and rediscovered place or, on the contrary, an indeterminate zone of degradation and conflict. But also an element of caesura and at the same time a dimension of exchange and interpretation.

Crossing this area of uncertainty and informality means reflecting on the role of public space in the contemporary city, on its limitations and potential, on its capacity to welcome or exclude, on what we do not know and what we call home.

Bolzanism Museum is the first museum on social housing in Italy, originating in 2017 from an urban mediation experiment carried out between the architecture of popular housing in Bolzano and the people who inhabit it.
